ICC 2023: The ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for April 2023 was won by the opening batsman in fine form after some spectacular performances.
Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman won the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for his outstanding performance in April. Prabath Jayasuriya, the master spinner from Sri Lanka, and promising New Zealand pacer Mark Chapman posed a tough challenge for him.
In their second highest ODI run which came in Rawalpindi later in the month, Pakistan was led by Fakhar. Aiming to beat the visiting New Zealand team and take a 2-0 lead in the series, the Pakistan opener hammered an unbeaten 180 to help them reach 337 runs.
In a high-scoring match, Pakistan triumphed with 10 balls to spare as Fakhar’s innings, which included his 117 off 114 balls in the first match at the same venue, . in as many games in April.
Fakhar immediately took the lead in the run chase and was run out only in the 43rd over, when Pakistan were on their way to a total victory. He won the man of the match trophy for his performance.
The left-hander got the month off to a flying start when he scored a quick-fire 47 against New Zealand in the opening T20I in Lahore, helping the home side to an 88-run crushing triumph. While he struggled in the next two T20Is, Fakhar exploded into form in ODIs, a format in which he has always excelled.
17 boundaries and six huge sixes. Fakhar Zaman registers his maiden ODI century. Fakhar has now amassed 3,148 ODIs in his 67-match career at an average of 49.71 and a strike rate of over 95. The Pakistan opener said it was an incredible pleasure to win the prestigious honour.
