Several Indian players have aced the occasion of gracing Indian attack by picking up hat-tricks, which include three instances, with the last being Jasprit Bumrah’s hat-trick in 2019.

3. Harbhajan Singh

The iconic 2001 test match between India and Australia marked the most promising performance by an Indian spinner, with the first-ever hat-trick picked by an Indian bowler. Harbhajan picked India’s first hat-trick with the red ball, and in his spell, he dismissed the Australian batters, Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist, and Shane Warne.

2. Irfan Pathan

It is probably the most iconic hat trick picked by a bowler in the history of cricket, especially considering the high standards of red-ball cricket. Irfan Pathan emerged as India’s second bowler to pick a test hat-trick.

He picked the iconic hat-trick in a test match against Pakistan when he dismissed the three top-order batters, Salman Butt, Younis Khan, and Mohammad Yousuf, in the very first over of the inning at Karachi.

The ICC Test Cricketer of the Year for 2024, Jasprit Bumrah, is considered one of the greatest to have picked wickets at the best bowling average. Bumrah, who made his red-ball debut in 2018, went on to pick up his hat trick back in 2019 against the West Indies. The star bowler dismissed the likes of Darren Bravo, Shamarh Brooks, and Roston Chase as his hat-trick.
