ENG vs AUS: England will be taking on Australia next for a 5-match long ODI series after the T20I series terminated in a draw between the two sides, as the last match was abandoned due to heavy rain in Manchester.

Prior to the beginning of the ODI series, they faced a major setback with a double blow, as England skipper Jos Buttler will miss another series as he is still recovering from his injury to the calf muscle. Josh Hull, the new 20-year-old Englishman, has been ruled out due to the injury he suffered while making a debut in the third test at The Oval.

“England men’s white-ball captain Jos Buttler has been ruled out of the Metro Bank ODI Series against Australia as he continues to recover from a right calf injury,” said the ECB source.

A similar source from the ECB also revealed that England’s red-ball vice captain, Harry Brook, will be seen in the role of England’s stand-in skipper for the Australia series. Brook has immense experience as a young captain since he was seen in the role in the U-19 World Cup of 2018.

Last time around in the Sri Lanka tour, he was seen as the deputy for stand-in skipper Ollie Pope and also captained the Northern Superchargers in the Hundred competition.

Also, Josh Hull was largely troubled due to his injury to the quadriceps, which he suffered in the second Sri Lanka innings, a major setback for the 6ft 7 inches tall lanky rising star.

England batting all-rounder and star for the T20I series, where he scored as many runs as he picked 6 talking wickets as well, Liam Livingstone has now been brought back into the ODI series to replace the injured bowler Hull.

Previously, the change made to the English side included that their red ball star Gus Atkinson was ruled out as a move to relieve his workload before the hectic test schedule that follows. Instead, Olly Stone has replaced him in the squad.

England Squad for ODIs: Harry Brook [C], Liam Livingstone, Jordan Cox, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Matthew Potts, Jamie Smith, Olly Stone, Reece Topley, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Jofra Archer, Jacob Bethell, Brydon Carse, and John Turner.
