Ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, former veteran Australian opener David Warner has hinted at a possible return to Test cricket as he makes an offer to fill in the void of the opening slot in the Australian side.

Sighting Warner’s retirement Australia has been in trouble with the opening spot, as even the likes of red-ball veteran Steven Smith faced a setback at the top. Now, amid all this, Warner has expressed his readiness to be back at the top for the Australian side.
Known for his aggressiveness, Warner’s return to the Australian side will bolster the team’s chances in the final round of WTC matches. Considered one of the greats in the Australian side, Warner went on to score 8786 runs with 26 hundreds in his test career.
Cameron Green’s unavailability and Steve Smith’s back into the middle order for Australia before the BGT
The Australian team faces a big setback as their most heroic test all-rounder, Cameron Green, is ruled out of cricket for the next six months following his big surgery on his back. While Steve Smith, the star batter, is about to return to the No. 4 position.
Smith was promoted up the order with Warner’s retirement, as now with Green’s absence from the team, Aussies need to strengthen their middle order, and hence, Smith will be back to his usual position at no. 4.
Smith also mentioned that he relished batting at the top and would love to be back at No. 4; however, he strongly believed that by batting up the order he could also emerge successful if he were handed some more opportunities. The former skipper added that he is available to bat anywhere, but evaluating the current situation of Green’s absence, he is ready to switch down the order.
The likes of Cameron Bancroft, Sam Konstas, and Marcus Harris are the contenders to audition for the opening spot, amid which the speculations of Warner’s return have created a buzz in the world of cricket.
