Chetan Sharma, the chief of the selection committee of the BCCI, has become a victim of a sting operation by Zee Media. The media house caught him on camera discussing many minutes of the Indian Cricket Team and sharing some inside information. He shared information about how the players take injections to hide injuries. There have been multiple shocking revelations. Though there isn’t strong evidence that any of his comments are true and have something to back them up, the operation does show us the dicey nature of Indian cricket. Here is a look:

Chetan Sharma Says, “Players Take Injections to Fake Fitness and Play”:

In one of the most shocking revelations, Chetan Sharma said, “They (the players) take injections to hide their injuries and it is impossible to detect. No, they do not take painkillers as you need a prescription to get the painkillers.” Chetan also spoke about how difficult a selector’s job is. He claimed that the position is very critical, and the careers of players are in their hands. They are the ones who decided who will be the future of Indian Cricket.

Chetan Sharma Says, “No Rift Between Kohli and Rohit”:

Chetan Sharma mentioned that there was no rift between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the era of Virat Kohli’s captaincy. It was only an ego problem that both these players had as they are superstars. Chetan cited examples of Bollywood, of how Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan were two of the most successful stars yet had a sort of friendship too.

He also explained how the big talent pool leads to lesser opportunities. He said, “One bad performance and you will have to wait for 2 years for the next chance. As the other players also want to play.”

Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli Battle of Egos:

Finally, Sharma said, “It was a battle of egos between two of the biggest names in Indian Cricket. It is not that Rohit Sharma was preferred by the BCCI members, but they did not like Virat Kohli as captain. And hence the change was made.” The battle of egos statement may be referring to the rift between former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and former Indian captain Virat Kohli. The Zee Media sting operation was required as there was limited to no clarity on how the selection process is in the Indian Cricket team.
