Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has been often referred to as the greatest ever Indian captain who reshaped Indian cricket for good. Though he lacked trophies in his cabinet, he made many wonders as a captain and player, from winning the iconic NatWest in England to defeating Aussies in the longest format of the game.
Later during his days as the BCCI president, he again made many crucial decisions, one of which received large-scale controversies and implications as he decided to call off Virat Kohli from the role of India’s white-ball skipper. However, it proved correct, as since then Virat could embark on a new role and achieve several landmarks, with also India lifting a World Cup, though late under skipper Rohit.
This time around the ex-cricketer made a bold claim, saying that India will have to secure their red-ball schedule before the upcoming BGT. He says that the two of the home series will be the preparation stages as India’s main challenge lies in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to be held in November.

He has also said that from the very day, he knew how much potential Rishabh Pant carries in the longest format. He will be India’s greatest ever if he continues his stunning form. However, Dada also mentioned that Pant would now have to implement his tactics and brilliance in the limited-overs cricket as well.
Hence, Ganguly says that India should not even take Bangladesh to be the weak side, as they come from a recent successful series sweep in the longest format against Pakistan on their soil. The two-match iconic test series won at Rawalpindi. Hence, Bangladesh as well as once WTC champions New Zealand will be tough competitors even under home conditions for the men in blue, especially due to India’s lack of prowess in spin bowling.
