BBL 2023-24 Points Table Updated After Brisbane Heat vs Melbourne Stars | Big Bash League Points Table: The first match of Big Bash League 2023-24 was won by Brisbane Heat with a massive margin of 103 runs against Melbourne Stars at Brisbane Cricket Ground in Brisbane. Now, Brisbane Heat moves to the top position in the BBL 2023-23 Points Table.
Brisbane Heat batted first and they scored a massive 214 runs on the scoreboard in 20 overs with a loss of only three wickets. Colin Munro played a sensational inning of 99 runs at a strike rate of 162.30, and Marnus Labuschagne played a small impactful inning of 30 runs, which led Brisbane Heat to such a massive score.
Melbourne Stars bowlers gave poor performance in the opener game and leak lots of runs hence failed to take wickets in the middle overs. Joel Paris, Glenn Maxwell and Nathan Coulter-Nile took one wicket each.
In the Second Inning, Melbourne Stars came to chase the massive target of 215 runs but they lost couple of wickets in the batting powerplay, which puts them on back-foot throughout the match. Joen Burns and Glenn Maxwell could able to make a small partnership of 43 runs for the third wicket.
Hilton Cartwright scored 33 runs in 16 balls whereas Glenn Maxwell and Joe Burns scored 23 and 22 runs, respectively. Melbourne Stars failed to chase the target as they got all-out in 15.1 overs with a 111 runs on the scoreboard.
From the Bowling Department of Brisbane Heat, Mitchell Swepson took three wickets whereas Xavier Bartlett and Michael Nesser took two wickets each in this match. The Player of the Match was Colin Munro for his wonderful batting in the opener game of BBL 2023-24.
