Bangladesh vs India: Bangladesh defeated India on the opening day of a women’s test match.: In a historic moment for women’s cricket, Bangladesh triumphed over India by 40 runs on the opening day of the women’s Test match. This remarkable achievement highlights the growth and talent of the Bangladesh women’s cricket team and underlines the ever-increasing competitiveness of the sport. In this article, we will delve into the details of this momentous victory, while analyzing the key factors that contributed to Bangladesh’s success.
Victorious Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana desires her team members to capitalize on their groundbreaking victory over India in the One Day International (ODI) match and continue scripting history for their steadily improving side.
In a remarkable turn of events, Bangladesh achieved their inaugural win against India in women’s ODI cricket, outperforming their Asian counterparts by a significant 40-run margin (according to the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method) in the exhilarating contest held at Mirpur on Sunday. As the three-game series reaches its conclusion in the upcoming week, Bangladesh now finds themselves on the brink of securing an improbable series triumph.
Despite India’s commendable efforts to contain Bangladesh to a modest total of 152 runs, courtesy of a match reduced to 44 overs per side, the Player of the Match, Marufa Akter (4/29), made early breakthroughs during the Powerplay phase, ultimately causing the highly favored Indian team to crumble and get dismissed for a mere 113 runs in response.
Understandably, Nigar radiated optimism and urges her players to draw confidence from this resounding triumph, carrying it forward throughout the remaining matches of the series.
Nigar Sultana said:-.
"We are very happy winning an ODI after a long time," "It is a huge achievement for the team. It will help us play much better in the future. We have defeated India after a long time. Plus, it happened in Mirpur. It is definitely part of history. We want to create a little more history."
Bangladesh celebrating victory over India
The win comes just days after the historic ICC announcement that men and women will receive equal prize money in ICC events. Nigar said it was too early to celebrate a one-sided victory and urged her players to put in more effort in the future.
“The girls were quite excited but I told them our job isn’t done yet,” she said. “Doing well raises our responsibilities. There are more expectations on us now.
“We know that if we continue to play better cricket, we will take another step towards a bigger achievement. So I have kept them calmed down from a big celebration.”
