AUS vs SA 2023: Smith, Starc, Maxwell, and Cummins ruled out of ODI & T20I series against South Africa | Australia Tour of South Africa 2023: A huge Concern for Team Australia Ahead of ICC ODI World Cup 2023 as Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Glenn Maxwell, and Pat Cummins have all been ruled out of Australia’s white-ball tour of South Africa due to injuries.
Steve Smith has a tendon injury to his left wrist, and he is expected to be rested for four weeks. Mitchell Starc had a finger injury, whereas Glenn Maxwell had an ankle injury, and Skipper Pat Cummins had a fractured wrist. Cummins’s injury is major, and it will take six weeks to recover.
The Australia vs South Africa white-ball series will begin on August 30 with the first T20I in Durban. The T20I series will be of three matches, and then they will be playing the five matches ODI series from September 7 to 17.
Despite the injuries, Australia will still be a strong team. Marsh, Josh Hazlewood, and Marnus Labuschagne are all in good form, and the bowlers have plenty of experience. However, the absence of Smith, Starc, and Maxwell will be a big loss.
The Australia vs South Africa white-ball series is a crucial one for both teams. Australia is currently ranked number two in the ODI rankings, whereas South Africa is number six. The series will be a good opportunity for both teams to test their preparations for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in India.
