AUS vs IND: The Indian Cricket Team are already in Australia to prepare for the first Test match of the five-match series starting on November 22 in Perth. It was reported that Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, will miss the first Test match due to the birth of his baby and Mohammed Shami was not picked in the squad as he was not fully fit.
However, SportTak has reported that Sharma and Shami are set to travel for Australia now. The Indian captain was recently blessed with a baby boy and Shami proved his match fitness by bowling 19 overs in the Ranji Trophy game against Madhya Pradesh and also picked up four wickets.
Shami has been out of cricket since the 2023 ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad against Australia which India lost. He scalped 24 wickets in that tournament but picked up an injury. Shami had an Achilles Tendon surgery in February 2024 and is now looking to make his comeback in the BGT.
His inclusion will give a big boost to the team given that he has been the leader of the bowling attack alongside Jasprit Bumrah. He however will be set to feature in the second Test match which is a Day-Night Test match in Adelaide.
AUS vs IND: Rohit Sharma will be ready for the first Test while Mohammed Shami will be available for selection from the second Test
Meanwhile, Sharma will be ready to feature in the first Test which solves India’s captaincy issues and also the opening corundum. Shubman Gill has been ruled out of the first Test due to an injury and hence Sharma’s presence will add solidarity to the team on the fast and bouncy track in Perth.
India were whitewashed 3-0 in their last Test series at home against New Zealand. This was their first Test series loss at home since 2012 and also their first whitewash in a home Test series since the time they started playing Test cricket. They will now need to win four Test matches in Australia to qualify for the WTC Final.
