AUS vs ENG: Australia have added pacer Mahli Beardman to their squad for the 5-match ODI series against England. The pace bowler was an eminent part of Australia’s U-19 team that won the U-19 World Cup against India in the finals.

After a recent stint of injuries to their frontline pacers, Pat Cummins the skipper was already rested for the ODIs against England, in order to reduce his workload ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Also, Xavier Bartlett suffered from a side strain during the opening T20I game against England.

Nathan Ellis on the other hand injured himself while featuring in the Men’s Hundred competition, as he pulled apart from Scotland leg as well as the following England tour. Spencer Johnson was also ruled out before the beginning of Australia’s white-ball tour, while Riley Meredith has also faced injury problems.

Australian coach, Andrew McDonald said recently that he is monitoring the fitness of the Australian pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazelwood before the five-match red ball series begins in November.

After Cooper Connolly another player from Australia’s U-19 World Cup winning squad, Mahli Beardman has also been called up. Beardman picked 3-15 in Australia’s victory over India, where he was made the Player of the match. The pacer picked a startling 10 wickets for the Aussies as he averaged 10.50 in the tournament.

Ben Dwarshuis has been added to the squad early on, as Connolly will also remain with the squad for England’s ODI tour.
