Asia Cup 2022 will be beginning on the 28th of August. The tournament begins with all 5 teams in contention being in top form. With that being said, which team has the best chance of winnings the tournament? We have seen that India has dominated the tournament over the years but Pakistan has provided good competition. Bangladesh off-late has become a very dominant T20 side. Sri Lanka’s waning sun has started rising again. So here is a look at my top 3 contenders:
1) India has the Best Chance of Winning the Asia Cup 2022:
The Indian cricket team stands the best chance of winning this Asia Cup. The team has some of the best players with it. Rohit Sharma is one hell of a match winner and so is Virat Kohli. One certainly knows what Rishabh Pant can do on a good day. Hardik Pandya and his current form will send chills down the spine of the opposition. The experience DK might also come in handy and so will his finishing skills. Yuzi will be taking control of the bowling lineup. Bhuvi has a lot on his shoulders. So, all in all, the Indian team is filled with match winners.
Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik (wicket-keeper), Ravindra Jadeja, R. Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan.
2) Pakistan has a Good Chance of Winning the Asia Cup 2022:
The men in green are as good as the Indians on paper. The team is filled with T20 specialists. And these are not just specialists but specialist match winners. These are players who can win you the game in a matter of one over. Haris Rauf will be leading the pace attack. Babar and Rizwan will take care of the batting unit. Asif Ali and Haider Ali are two players to watch out for. They have equivalent potential to Hardik Pandya.
Babar Azam (c), Asif Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Haider Ali, Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Naseem Shah, Khushdil Shah, Shahnawaz Dahani, Usman Qadir, Mohammad Hasnain
3) Sri Lanka:
The sleeping giants from Asia are the players from the emerald aisle. Sri Lanka is a team that has loads of potential and a lot of talent. It is a team that relies on senior players but also has a good crop of younger players in the mix. With the country as a whole facing a time of turmoil, some success on the field would be great. Sport is something that inspires people and the people of Sri Lanka need this inspiration. So now it is up to the likes of Pathum Nissanka, Lahiru Kumara, and Charith Asalanka under the leadership of Dasun Shanaka to get to glory.
Dasun Shanaka (captain), Dhanushaka Gunathilaka, Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka, Banuka Rajapaksha, Ashen Bandara, Dhananjaya de Silva, Wanidu Hasaranga, Mahesh Theekshana, Jeffery Vandersay, Praveen Jayawickrema, Binura Fernando, Chamika Karunaratne, Dilshan Madushanka, Matheesha Pathirana, Dinesh Chandimal, Nuwanindu Fernando and Kasun Rajitha.
