Arjun Tendulkar, the left-arm pacer from the Mumbai Cricket Association and the son of “Cricket’s God” Sachin Tendulkar made his debut in the TATA IPL for the Mumbai Indians today. He was playing in place of Rohit Sharma from the last game who chose to stay out during fielding as he was having a stomach bug.

It was a proud moment for Sachin Tendulkar as well as he was seen with a blissful smile while watching his son get his first cap. Arjun was given the cap by the most successful captain in the history of the TATA IPL and one of the most loved players of the Mumbai Indians, Rohit Sharma.

Arjun Tendulkar did well too. While bowling first, Suryakumar Yadav handed the very first over to him. He bowled a great line and length. He conceded just a mere 4 runs in the first over. He was taken to the cleaners in the second over as he conceded 13 runs off it. But it was a decent spell overall. He was clocking speeds of 130 kmph. He also managed to hit Gurbaz on the pads.

Rohit Sharma, the regular skipper of the Mumbai Indians was out due to a stomach bug while fielding. But it was the strategy of the Mumbai Indians to use the “Impact Player” rule successfully. Arjun Tendulkar was bought into the squad as Mumbai was fielding first. Suryakumar Yadav, the number 1 ranked batter in the ICC T20I rankings was the skipper of the Mumbai Indians while fielding.

Rohit then walked into bat alongside Ishan Kishan when MI started their innings. He was bought on as an “Impact Player” instead of Riley Meredith. With this Arjun Tendulkar also got his cap and Rohit Sharma’s resources batting could be used effectively too.
