ICC T20 World Cup 2021 preparation starts, BCCI officials to visit UAE, Oman.
ICC T20 World Cup 2021: To officially begin the preparations of the all-important ICC T20 World Cup 2021, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials are all set to visit the hosting nation UAE and Oman on July 16 and 17 to check the grounds and various other things.
The global cricket body, ICC earlier confirmed that the T20 World Cup will be staged in the UAE and Oman due to prevailing covid situations in India, however, India will retain hosting rights of the tournament.
The matches will be held in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi Stadium and Oman Cricket Academy Ground, Oman from October 17 to November 14.
“We are going to Oman tomorrow, we will be visiting the venue and also will discuss the travel plan of teams as Qualifiers are to be held there, the day after tomorrow will be in Dubai to have a meeting with ICC. ECB officials will also be there.
The officials confirmed that all the operations will be held inside the bio-bubbles to ensure the safety of all the involved parties.
“We do not want to leave any stone unturned due to the Covid-19 pandemic. That’s why everything will be taken care of Bio bubble, training, accommodation are some issues that need to be discussed. We Will also discuss whether media will be allowed or not,” the source added.
The first qualifying round of the T20 World Cup will be held in the UAE and Oman between eight teams, the top four of which will advance to the Super 12s where they will meet the top eight ICC ranked teams.
ICC acting CEO Geoff Allardice in a release said that they are disappointed not being able to host the event in India. The main focus of the International Cricket Council (ICC), BCCI, Emirates Cricket Board and Oman Cricket Board is to deliver the T20 World Cup 2021 with safety in its window.
