IND vs AUS: India won the first Test match against Australia in Perth by a dominant margin of 295 runs, single-handedly dismantling the home side. This defeat has also made Australia’s path to the World Test Championship Finals much more challenging, with South Africa also clinching a victory.
After the defeat, certain rumours of a rift in the dressing room were flowing in the community, following Josh Hazlewood’s comments in the media during the Perth Test. Hazlewood blamed the batters for their poor display of intent. This media interaction sparked the speculations of a division in the Australian dressing room ahead of the Adelaide Test.
Travis Head, who has been an efficient and effective batter for the Australian side, came and dismissed the rumours of a rift within the Australian dressing room.
“Batters want to hold our own … we know how good our bowlers have been in the past, Knowing that if I can set it up for the big boys, they can knock it down for us, so definitely no bad blood.”

Head added, “(The other batters) are not coming to me for batting tips, that’s for sure. Everyone goes about it in different ways … we’re all supporting each other … we’ll have a chat over the next three or four days.”
“I feel like this team has dealt with adversity well, with the small amount that we’ve had in the last three or four years. We’ve had some challenging times, we had a couple of challenging Tests last year that we were able to get ourselves out of. Our heads aren’t in the clouds, we understand a few Tests last year could’ve gone either way.” The Australian batter concluded his statement.
By his statements, Travis Head ensured that there was no room for unnecessary speculation or controversy. He carefully deflected attention from any internal issues and emphasized his focus on preparing for the next Test match.
In his interview, he also appreciated the Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. He credited Bumrah as one of the greatest fast bowlers to play the game.
He finished it by saying, “It’s going to be nice to look back at your career and tell the grandkids that you faced him, so not a bad series to be playing with him.”
