Though it’s tough to say whether MLC is approaching the English legend James Anderson or Jimmy is targeting to make a return to cricket with the MLC.
Jimmy Anderson, England’s greatest ever, has retired from all forms of cricket for over a month now, as he goes down as England’s highest wicket-getter across both Test and ODI formats. The pace bowling maestro went on to be England’s most featured player in his long career spanning over 2 decades, as he played 401 matches for the Three-Lions.
Anderson has another acclaim to his name as he is England’s highest wicket-taker across all formats combined and also has 704 test wickets alongside his 269 ODI wickets, the most by any player from the nation.
James Anderson, as he ended his career aged 42 years old, ends his splendorous career with only 9 wickets left to become the world’s third bowler and first-ever pacer to pick 1000 international wickets. Anderson was only 11 wickets away from going past the likes of legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne, who has 1001 international wickets. Anderson goes down with 991 wickets and is the third-highest wicket-taker in the history of the game.
Reports from international media chains claim that at least one of the MLC franchises is interested in acquiring the English legend. The MLC grew to the status of List A in 2024, after it was promoted to a 34-game tournament.
Even for Anderson, who missed franchise action and even the likes of white-ball cricket for years, only to focus largely on England’s red-ball antics, the stint at MLC will be of immense desire. Despite his short stint, he has been speculated to be offered around 135,000 euros.
Jimmy’s fitness is not under charge, and the ace pacer has not played white ball cricket for England since 2015. The concern has been over the shine on the white ball. His only trophy with England comes in the T20 World Cup back in 2010 under Paul Collingwood.
Anderson was last seen in the role of England’s red ball team in a coaching stint, as he was the consultant of England’s team and will continue in the role till the end of this summer against Pakistan and New Zealand.
