Allrounder Wanindu Hasaranga joins the elite T20I list: Nowadays, new records are being made in the cricket world, and records of some important players are being broken. Sri Lankan all-rounder spin right-arm leg break bowler Wanindu Hasaranga became the second player to reach 100 T20I wickets.
In T20Is, Wanindu Hasaranga became the second Sri Lankan bowler after Lasith Malinga to reach the 100-wicket mark, and the twelfth male player overall to do so.
The leg spinner, who is currently the captain of the team, achieved the feat in the second T20 match against Afghanistan in Dambulla.
Since making his men’s T20I debut in 2019, Hasaranga has taken more wickets than any other bowler.
The only other bowler from Sri Lanka who has taken over 100 wickets in T20Is is Malinga. Hasaranga reached the landmark in his 63rd T20I, whereas Malinga accomplished so in his 76th.
After Rashid Khan, who accomplished the feat in 53 games in 2021, he now has the second-fastest record for 100 T20I wickets
Hasaranga said after the match: "Credit goes to the batters. They batted really well. Openers did a good job. Sadeera and Mathews finished well. Over 170, I back our bowling line up to defend it. Still a long way to go (on 100 T20I wickets). I trust my variations. We want to test our bench as well. Only four games left before the WC. So need to test our bench,".
