Both R Ashwin and the team management are happy to confirm that he will be back in action on Day 4 and will continue to contribute for the team in the ongoing Test match, ” BCCI said.

Despite Ashwin’s tardiness in arriving in Rajkot during the first session, it is anticipated that the spinner will be at Niranjan Shah Stadium by midday. This implies that Ashwin will be ready to bat later today if required, as India looks to push their advantage beyond 400 and eliminate England from the Test.

Before the start of play on the fourth day of the Test, Dinesh Karthik, who was one of the on-air commentators, also said that he had a conversation with India’s Kuldeep Yadav, who said that Ashwin could return to Rajkot.

“I am not sure, but I think Aish bhai is the guy who is coming back,” the wrist spinner said during a chat on Jio Cinema. And after the announcement became official, Sanjay Manjrekar appreciated it. “It was very nice of Kuldeep Yadav to give us this signal,” he said.

India vs England test match day 3

On Saturday, the Indian bowlers were used for extended periods of time, which made Ashwin’s absence noticeable. Nevertheless, the team played wonderfully and bowled out the English team for 319 runs.

With four wickets, Mohammed Siraj was the most effective bowler, while Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja, both spinners, removed two batsmen.

Ashwin on Friday became only the second bowler from the country to reach the historic 500 wicket mark on the second day by dismissing England’s Jack Crawley.

This made him the second fastest player to reach the feat in 98 Tests after the great Muttiah Muralitharan. But the day ended on a disappointing note as just hours later the BCCI confirmed that Ashwin had to leave the Test midway.

The board’s statement read, “Ravichandran Ashwin has withdrawn from the Test team with immediate effect due to a family medical emergency. In these challenging times, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the team fully support Ashwin.” Is.”

Later on Saturday, India suffered another blow when Yashasvi Jaiswal retired due to back spasms, although the young batsman took part in a practice session ahead of the fourth day on Sunday.

The scenario proved true as after Shubman Gill was run out on 91, Jaiswal along with Kuldeep resumed their innings at 104 and immediately followed it up with a boundary.
