Football, a sport that is one of the most popular sports around the world has produced some of the most decorated and celebrated athletes of all time. From Pele to Maradona and from Cristiano to Lionel, gems are produced by the sport. The spark of an all-time great, however, is seen at the blooming period itself. So, here’s a look at the youngsters who lit up the 2020/21 season with their elite skills and supreme footwork.

Jadon Sancho

This Borussia Dortmund midfielder seemed to be upset about a failed transfer to ManU last summer and chose to answer with his game. Making a mockery of the defenders in the Bundesliga, Jadon Sancho proved his mettle. At 21 years, Sancho has smacked 16 goals in all competitions and 11 assists in just a season. The Englishman has now set his eyes on the Premier League with ManU getting him successfully in this year’s transfer window.

Mason Mount

Another British midfielder who showed us exactly how to make football look sexy is Mason Mount. An integral part of Chelsea’s Champions League-winning, 2021 side, Mount, and his crazy dribbling skills are a treat to watch. His assist to Kai Havertz in the final and the winning goal in the semis was the point where he caught the people’s eye. With 54 games for the Blues, he has got 10 goals and 8 assists.

The winner of the Golden Ball in the U-17 World Cup held in India, Phil Foden is one of the most talented, blessed, and smart footballers that the community has ever witnessed. He was Man City’s mainstay for the 2020/21 season in the midfield. Through balls and silky-smooth passes defined his game. His ball control is second to none. 16 goals and 10 assists are what he put in his kitty. 

Gianluigi Donnarumma

That cold-blooded walk after saving the decisive penalty in the finals of the Euros against the Brits is one to cherish for a long time. Imagine the burden of a million dreams, of the Azzuri, and to prove yourself the successor of the legendary Gianluigi Buffon!! Donnarumma has witnessed and experienced it all. The “Player of the tournament” for Euros 2020 Gianluigi was absolutely clinical with the gloves. From dives to punches to the well-directed volleys, everything was spot on. Playing as the starter for AC Milan since age 17, Donnarumma has now bagged a contract with the French giants PSG.

Pedro Gonzalez Lopez

Pedro Gonzalez Lopez, commonly known as Pedri is one of the stars of the Spaniards. This central midfielder lit up the Euros and the La Liga with his skill work for the Spanish National team and his club Barcelona respectively.  At age 18, Pedri is a prodigy bagging 89 professional football appearances for elite clubs. Although he hasn’t smoked absolute screamers or hasn’t scored on the trot it is his decisive passes that turn the tables. His vision and high game IQ set him apart.
