Reports have clearly indicated that Spanish footballer Sergi Roberto has decided not to wait any longer to be offered a contract by the Catalan club. The 32-year-old was a product of the famous La Masia academy in Barcelona, which has been known to produce the best Spanish players.
Roberto’s contract has already ended with the Catalunya club, and foreseeing FCB’s bad financial conditions, it is not very likely for them to offer them a new contract. However, Roberto reportedly has decided not to wait for the renewal and has availed himself as a probable transfer option to the Premier League.
However, previously, Deco repeatedly assured the player that he would be given a renewal at Camp Nou; however, with no such intention shown, the veteran has not returned to training sessions under new manager Hansi Flick.
Sergi Roberto has been one of the club’s oldest members; he has appeared in over 370 matches for the Barca side, scoring on 19 occasions and also giving 43 assists. He has also been playing for the Spanish side; though not given much chance, he has scored once for them in 11 international appearances.

The campaigner has often played for Barca and has impressed them with his diversity. He has played primarily as a full-back in his career, often being promoted to the role of a central midfielder and sometimes in the wings as well, whenever his managers needed him to. It was following his amazing diversity that Xavi, who was a former teammate of Roberto in his younger days, urged the club management to retain the payer, as his experience would be crucial both on the field and in the dressing room.
Getting Sergi Roberto off Barca’s wage book could be a vital decision made in light of their bad financial condition; however, ignoring interests from Girona, Sevilla, or other Spanish clubs in La Liga, the Spaniard might favor his move to the Premier League in light of better contracts and more game time as he approaches the end of his career at Camp Nou.
