FC Barcelona have been in the buzz since Flick took over the Catalunya club. The Barca side has been active in the transfer season. The German boss has looked to sign many players, the most key being Germany’s Joshua Kimmich or Spanish star Nico Williams, and now they are in the race for Dani Olmo.
Flick is known for his attacking football, and so does he look to improve Barca’s forward line and increase their prowess in attacking from the defense line. Barcelona showed their prior interest in Nico Williams by pairing the Spanish winger alongside Lamine Yamal.
The irresistible duo has been one of the many reasons behind Spain’s Euro success. Yamal and Nico together contributed 3 goals and 5 assists. Dani Olmo has been another effect, as he scored three times, including two assists, in his six appearances with La Roja in Euro 2024.
Olmo first came to the limelight at age 16 when he left the La Masia academy in Barcelona, which is known to produce some of the greatest players. The Spanish star, unlike his contemporaries, has always run away from attention and big clubs.
Dani Olmo started his career at the Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb before moving to RB Leipzig. Olmo revived his career at the Bundesliga club, and since then he has been a regular for both Enrique and de La Fuente, though he is often not named ahead of Spanish big club names like Gavi or Pedri.

With equal or even more potency, Olmo now wishes to come back to Camp Nou, as he has repeatedly stated in his interviews. After having established him as a world-class player and one of the world’s best attacking midfielders currently, he is rightly over the decision to leave the German club for a desired move to either a Spanish or an English club.
Since Nico holds remarkable faithfulness to his club, Barcelona would have to pay a 58 million euros release clause to acquire the winger down the left flank, but acquiring Olmo seems more likely a move for Flick and the Barca staff, as he can suit their role of an attacking midfielder in the absence of Pedri, Gavi, and De Jong and also switch to the role of a winger in case they need one if Raphinha leaves the Catalunya club.
However, the only thing that adds to FCB’s concern is that can their low purse endure the 60 million euros transfer of Olmo from RB Leipzig.
