WPL 2023: Women’s Premier League (WPL 2023) Match No. 9 between Gujarat Giants and Delhi Capitals had a very interesting Match, they have played well yesterday at 7:30 PM in which the captain of Gujarat team came to bat after winning the toss,. However the batsmen were dismissed one after the other by All-rounder Marizanne Kapp was, due to Poor performance, not being able to put up much runs against the opposition team, which resulted in Mumbai’s Paltan win by a huge margin of 10 wickets.
Gujarat Giants Batting:
Before Shikha Pandey successfully reviewed Hemlatha (5) and caught her behind, there were a few fours in between. The batter nicked a wide pitch after going for it, but the umpire didn’t point. Lanning took the review right away, and Ultraedge registered a surge.
With a 14-ball 20, Harleen Deol was looking strong out in the middle but was unable to continue after being Kapp’s fourth wicket and being caught LBW by an off-cutter ball.
Once more, Lanning’s review was successful since the videos showed all three reds being hit in the centre and leg by the ball. With 31/5 at the end of the Powerplay, GG was having trouble. Sushma Verma was returned for 2 by Kapp, who was unwilling to give up and obtained her five-wicket haul inside the first seven overs.
Kim Garth led GG’s battle while holding down one end and forming two brief partnerships, the first with Wareham (33 off 33 balls), and the second with Tanuja Kanwar (28 off 37 balls). Garth helped GG cross 100 as they concluded on 105/9 thanks to his 32 unbroken runs off 37 balls. Kapp stole the show with 5/15, while Shikha Pandey came in second with 3/26.
Shikha Pandey took three out of GG’s wickets, and Marizanne Kapp took five, helping to keep GG to 105/9 after 20 overs. Shikha Pandey also claimed three wickets. After that, Shafali Verma put on a batting display, scoring an undefeated 76 off 28 balls to complete the chase in 7.1 overs.
Delhi Capitals Batting:
In the women’s t20 cricket (WPL 2023) match where Gujarat Giants (GG) faced Delhi Capitals (DC) and were Giants limited to a score of 105/9 after 20 overs, with Marizanne Kapp taking five wickets for DC, and Shikha Pandey taking three wickets for GG. In response, DC’s Shafali Verma put on a dominant batting display, scoring an unbeaten 76 off 28 balls, including a 19-ball fifty with 8 fours and 2 sixes. DC reached their target in just 7.1 overs, with Shafali leading the way and hitting some lofted shots over covers off Mansi Joshi’s bowling. Kapp also bowled exceptionally well for DC, taking wickets with her swing bowling and destroying GG’s top and middle order.
Shafali Verma got off to a blazing start as she smashed a 19-ball fifty, the second-fastest of the tournament so far, as she chased a 106-run target, much like her teammate Kapp. Unbelievably, 48 of those 50 runs were bounds (8 fours and 2 sixes). On the final Powerplay over, she then hit Tanuja Kanwar for a pair of sixes down the ground.
The combination scored 87 in the Powerplay, the most in the opening six overs of the competition, and Meg Lanning had the finest view in the house as she watched Shafali go absolutely crazy from the other end. Shafali kept up the attack, scoring a six and a few fours off lofted attempts over covers from Mansi Joshi to move DC closer to the victory.
