It was an easy win for England, and with this victory, they directly jumped to the top position in the Women’s World Cup Points Table with 4 points and an impressive net run rate of + 1.757. They surpassed India, which was previously holding the top spot.
The Player of the match was Heather Knight for her heroic knock against Bangladesh in match no. 8 of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. She played a fantastic inning of 79* (111) and led her team to their second victory of the tournament. However, England’s star spinner Sophie Ecclestone also bowled well, and she took three crucial wickets in this game.
However, the Bangladesh Women failed to play good cricket against the quality players of England; they would have done better, especially with the bat, but the whole batting unit collapsed. England Women won the toss and they decided to bowl first as their conditions favor the batting second team, and the winning percentage is also high. Bangladesh came to bat and they had a terrible start as they lost two wickets in the powerplay itself however, Sharmin Akhter was scoring runs for the other end, but not through boundaries.
Later, Sharmin Akhter got out by scoring just 30 runs in 52 balls, but then, Sobhana Mostary stood at one end and started scoring runs by singles and doubles. However, other batters were still losing wickets at the other end against the strong bowling unit of England. At the end, Bangladesh got all out by scoring 178 runs in 49.4 overs.
Sophie Ecclestone stunned the Bangladeshi batter with her bowling and took three wickets and giving only 24 runs in her 10-over spell. Charlie Dean, Alice Capsey, and Linsey Smith also got two wickets each in this match.
In the Second inning, England came to chase the target of 179 runs, but they lost two wickets in just 7 overs. But later, Heather Knight and Skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt made a decent partnership of 40 runs. However, Nat Sciver-Brunt also got out by scoring 32 runs in 41 balls, and then, England again lost two back-to-back wickets.
But Heather Knight kept scoring runs from one end, and Alice Capsey and Charlie Dean also helped her to easily chase the target. With Heather’s heroic 79 runs inning, England Women easily chased the target of 179 runs in 46.1 overs and registered their second victory of Women’s World Cup 2025.
