WI vs SA: South Africa are on tour of West Indies, which started with two Tests. The first Test ended in a draw, while South Africa won the second game to win the series 1-0. Now these two teams will take on each other in a three-match T20 series.

These matches will be played on August 23, 24, and 27, respectively, while Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad will host all three games. This is the same venue which hosted T20 World Cup 2024 games. South Africa announced their new-look T20 squad a few days back.

Meanwhile, the hosts have now revealed their squad for the T20 series. Just like South Africa, West Indies have also rested their senior trio from the T20 squads.

West Indies have an excellent record at home in T20Is. They have won four out of their last five series and marginally missed a chance to qualify for the semi-final berths in the T20 World Cup 2024. Rovman Powell will lead this squad in the WI vs SA series.

Roston Chase has got the chance to be his deputy. Star pacer Alzarri Joseph, who was vice-captain in the T20 World Cup 2024, has been tested. Veteran all-rounders Jason Holder and Andre Russell are also rested.

The Director of Cricket at CWI said, “Facing a strong South African side is an excellent opportunity for our team to reset and refocus with our game plan. I am confident in the squad we have selected, and with eyes already on the next T20 World Cup in 2026.”

Russell has asked for a break from the team, while Holder has been given rest after five consecutive Tests against England and South Africa. Meanwhile, Brandon King is still out of action due to injury, which he faced during the T20 World Cup 2024, so he will miss the WI vs SA series. Alick Athanaze and Matthew Forde are back in the squad.
