WI vs SA: South Africa are on tour of West Indies for Test and T20I series. The tour began with two Test matches. The first Test ended in a draw, while the second Test gets underway on August 15 (Thursday) in Guyana. After this series, both teams will lock horns in a three-match WI vs SA T20I series.

The T20 series will start on August 24, and matches will be played on August 24, 25, and 28, respectively. The Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad will host all three games. Notably, this was the same venue which hosted matches during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

South Africa were unlucky to finish as runner-up, and this is their first T20 series since then. On Wednesday, Cricket South Africa announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming WI vs SA T20 series against West Indies.

A number of big names who were part of the T20 World Cup 2024 are missing from the squad. Heinrich Klaasen, Quinton de Kock, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Tabraiz Shamsi, and David Miller are not part of the WI vs SA squad. The Southpaw African board has given rest to all these stars.

Aiden Markram will be leading the team, and the squad also has U19 star Kwena Maphaka, who made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians. He has been given his maiden call in T20Is. The squad has a number of young faces, which makes it even more interesting. The 29-year-old batter Jason Smith is another debutant in the squad for the WI vs SA T20Is.

Smith had a pretty good season in the CSA T20 Challenge, where he scored 291 runs at a strike rate of 134.10. Apart from captain Markram, Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Dussen, and Tristan Stubbs have played T20Is for South Africa most recently. Lungi Ngidi and Nandre Burger will lead the bowling attack.
