West Indies Home Summer Schedule 2024: Cricket West Indies (CWI) reveals the action-packed schedule of West Indies for the home summer 2024, it looks pretty balanced and made with proper planning as West Indies will host South Africa for three-matches T20I series against South Africa just before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. They will be playing four test matches at home after the tournament, which will help them to get a better position in the ICC WTC 2023-25 Standings.
The ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024 is scheduled to start from June 02, West Indies and USA are hosting the tournament. USA will be hosting the group stage matches whereas West Indies will be hosting most of the Super 8 and Knockout stage matches of the T20 World Cup 2024. However, West Indies will have the upper hand but haven’t played good cricket in the past few months.
After the T20I series against South Africa, West Indies will tour England for the three-matches Test series, which will be the part of ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 Cycle. English Legendary Bowler James Anderson will retire from International Cricket after this series. However, He might have played one or two years more but Coach Brandon McCullum wants a new bowler to take his role in the future
Then, South Africa will come again to the West Indies for a two-match test series and a three-match T20I series in August. Later on, the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 will be held in September in the West Indies therefore there will be no bilateral series in that window.
Overall, West Indies will host 14 T20Is, 6 ODIs and 4 Test matches in their home summer against South Africa, England and Bangladesh. It is an excellent opportunity for the West Indies to improve their positions in the ICC Team Rankings but they need to focus on collective performances as we saw, the team is highly dependent on a few players only.
