Virat Kohli: ‘Virat is perfect for No.4,’ says AB de Villiers for batting line-up in the Indian team.

Virat Kohli: Former South African captain AB de Villiers believes Virat Kohli might be the answer to India’s No. 4 dilemma in the World Cup.

Kohli’s former IPL partner, AB de Villiers, stated on his YouTube channel ‘AB de Villiers 360’, “We’re still talking about who will be India’s No. 4 batter.” I’ve heard some whispers about Virat (Kohli) maybe taking over. That would have my full support.

“I think Virat is perfect for No. 4. He can put the innings together, and play any kind of role in that middle order. I don’t know if he would like to do that. We know he loves his No. 3 position; he’s scored all his runs there, but at the end of the day, if the team needs you to do something, play a certain role, you have got to put your hand up and go for it.”

With Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul only recently returning to the squad following long-term injuries, India’s middle order has been a hot subject ahead of the Asia Cup and World Cup.

When India unveiled their Asia Cup team, captain Rohit Sharma emphasized the need for flexibility in the batting order, saying that players should be prepared to bat at any position.

Iyer, who is recovering from back surgery, is now the most likely to occupy the No.4 spot, although Kohli has previously excelled in that capacity.

Batting at No. 4, Kohli has seven hundred, an amazing average of 55.21, and an equally remarkable strike rate of 90.66. On the other hand, he hasn’t batted in that position since January 2020, when he faced Australia in Mumbai.

Although the middle order may remain stable with Iyer looking fine in India’s Asia Cup training camp in Alur, KL Rahul’s fitness remains a concern, and he may miss at least two games in the Asia Cup, which begins on August 30.
