The next generation of Indian batters is fearless, and that’s what Abhishek Sharma showed the world in his only second game. He made his debut against Zimbabwe and bagged a duck. But in the very next match, he smashed a 46-ball ton and reached his century with a century. He scored 100 off just 47 balls, with seven fours and eight sixes. He took the fewest innings to score a T20I century by an Indian batter.

2. Suryakumar Yadav – 45 Balls

The second fastest century by an Indian batter is registered by Suryakumar Yadav. He smashed a 45-ball ton against Sri Lanka in Rajkot in January 2023. India scored a massive total of 228/5 in 20 overs. Suryakumar scored fifty off 26 balls and reached his century on 45 balls. He scored an unbeaten 112 runs off 51 balls, with seven fours and nine sixes. India won that game by 91 runs. He won the Player of the Match award for his blistering century.

Not just for India, Rohit Sharma holds the record for the joint-fastest T20I century for a batter from a Test-playing nation. He smashed a 35-ball ton against Sri Lanka in Indore in 2017. It was the fastest century then. Rohit took all Sri Lankan bowlers to cleaners and hit 12 fours and 10 sixes in his innings.

He completed fifty on 23 balls, and the next 50 runs came in just 12 balls. He finished with 118 runs off 43 balls, and India posted their highest T20I total of 260/5. Sri Lanka got all out for 172 and lost by 88 runs. Rohit scored 108 runs off boundaries in his innings, which is the only instance when a batter scored 100 or more runs in a T20I innings with boundaries.
