The ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year nominees have been announced: The performance of women’s ODI cricketers this year was assessed by the ICC, in which an impressive all-rounder from Australia along with three experienced batsmen from South Africa, Sri Lanka and India have made it to the list of ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year. These players performed brilliantly throughout the year and made themselves and their teams proud.

Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa) Performance this year

Laura Wolvaardt started 2024 a bit slow, scoring only seven runs in three innings against Australia. But after that her form picked up tremendous pace. Two centuries against Sri Lanka – including a career-best score of 184* in Potchefstroom – boosted her confidence.
This was followed by an innings of 135 against India in Bengaluru. She ended her year with a consistent performance in the home series against England in December.
Performance: The 184* innings against Sri Lanka in April was the best innings of Wolvaardt’s career. In this brilliant performance, she hit 23 fours and four sixes in 147 balls. This innings helped South Africa to score a huge score of 301/5.
Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka) Performance this year

Chamari Athapaththu began her ODI campaign in 2024 with an innings of 195* against South Africa in April. She scored 130 runs and took four wickets in the 3-0 series win against the West Indies. She ended the year with a brilliant performance against Bangladesh in Belfast.
Performance: The Sri Lankan captain scored 195 runs against South Africa, which included 26 fours and five sixes in 139 balls. Thanks to this innings, Sri Lanka achieved the target of 301/5 with five overs to spare.
Smriti Mandhana (India) Performance this year

Smriti Mandhana scored two consecutive centuries against South Africa in Bengaluru in June. She scored a total of four centuries in 2024, including one each against New Zealand and Australia. At the end of the year, she performed brilliantly in the three-match series against Australia, although India lost 3–0.
Performance: Smriti Mandhana left a lasting impression with his outstanding effort against South Africa in June. She hit 18 fours and two sixes in her 120-ball total of 136 runs. In addition, she bowled brilliantly, taking Sne Luce out of the game.
Annabel Sutherland (Australia) Performance of the year

Annabel Sutherland started the year by taking two wickets against India. She scored back-to-back centuries against India and New Zealand and won the Player of the Series title. She played an innings of 110 runs at the WACA Ground and took the important wicket of India captain Harmanpreet Kaur.
Performance: The innings of 110 runs played in Perth was one of the best innings of Sutherland’s career. In this innings of 95 balls, she hit nine fours and four sixes. In bowling too, she dismissed the captain of India and gave Australia a 3-0 series win.
