The TATA IPL 2023 has found a new “wonder kid”. This wonder kid is Suyash Sharma from Delhi. The motto of the toughest T20 league in the world is “Where Talent Meets Opportunity” and this is exactly the case for Suyash Sharma. A talented young man from Delhi with the magic of spin in his hands. He dismantled the RCB batting line-up. The 19-year-old bowler was the star of the KKR VS RCB match. He played exceptionally well for the men in purple and won the game. Here is an in-depth look at him:
Suyash Sharma Stars in His First Game:
The “Impact Player” rule in TATA IPL is certainly going to be interesting. This rule has led to more opportunities for young Indian players and fresher faces. In the recently concluded game of the Rajasthan Royals, we saw Dhruv Jurel come out and become the star. The same was the case with the KKR VS RCB game. But this time the “Impact Player” was Suyash Sharma from Delhi.
“Suyash Sharma” was bought on in place of Venkatesh Iyer in the second innings while RCB was chasing a mammoth 207 runs set by KKR. This humongous target was set all thanks to splendid innings by Shardul Thakur. Sharma is a 19-year-old who hails from Delhi. He plays local club cricket there.
He was scouted by the watchful eyes of Chandrakant Pandit, the current coach of KKR. From then on he was offered an IPL contract. In the TATA IPL 2023 Auction, Kolkata Knight Riders were the only team to bid on Suyash Sharma, who essentially is a played with zero first class or domestic experience.
Sharma Bagged 3 Wickets in His First Game:
Playing along with big names like Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy, Suyash Sharma never looked nervous. His game was at par with the other boys. Captain Nitish Rana had words of praise for the young man from Delhi. He said, “I know he is from Delhi itself and he is a fun guy. He keeps the mood light in the camp. He was always in the scheme of things. We had in a plan that whenever we get a chance to play three spinners, we will give Suyash an opportunity. We saw the ball was gripping and turning a bit and hence made a call to play Suyash Sharma.”
Suyash Sharma stood tall in the IPL test. He bagged the wickets of Dinesh Karthik, Anuj Rawat, and Karn Sharma in his dream spell. His confidence to give the ball the added flight was something to be proud of. Sharma has no experience playing first-class or domestic cricket. But he has played club-level professional cricket in Delhi. He ended with great figures of 30/4 in his quota of 4 overs. RCB was wrapped up for 123 and Suyash had an immense contribution to it.
