After the West Indian giant Kieron Pollard, now Tim Southee caused a major upset to the Trent Rockets in The Hundred. Just a day back, it was the Indies all-rounder Pollard who smashed Afghan legend Rashid Khan for five consecutive sixes in a set; now the Kiwi pacer stuns them in yet another encounter.

Tim Southee is undoubtedly one of New Zealand’s most successful bowlers, with the likes of Daniel Vettori and Mills topping him in all-time ODI wickets, while only the legendary Sir Richard Hadlee is ahead of him in wickets in the longest format of the game.
With incredible records across franchise crickets and also being the highest wicket-taker in the shortest format of the game internationally with 164 of them, the legend for the first time set his foot in the Hundred.
Playing for the Birmingham Phoenix, while bowling in the first innings, he took 3 wickets in his first spell and then also picked 2 during the end phase as he finished with remarkable figures of 5/12 as he broke the back of the Trent Rockets batting order. Once again, figure ‘5’ caused trouble for the Rockets’ den, as they collapsed for a very low 118.
The credit lay with the legend, as after a five-fer in Tests, ODIs, as well as T20s, Southee is the only bowler to have picked 5-wickets in the Hundred as well, though this is not his first ever 5-fer in the franchise level of cricket for him.
