ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Group C All Teams Squads and Schedule: Two-time T20 World Cup champions and co-hosts West Indies have been placed alongside New Zealand, Afghanistan, Uganda and Papua New Guinea in the ninth edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
Talking about the highest ranked team in this group, West Indies and New Zealand are the top ranked teams in Group C, but they will not have an easy match against Afghanistan, Uganda and Papua New Guinea. All the teams in the group will face a tough challenge as they aim to make it to the second round.
West Indies Team
The series win against defending champions England late last year showed just how dangerous a full-strength West Indies side can be. Despite their poor showing in the 2022 edition, the Rovman Powell-led side look set to be a bigger threat this time around.
They are well-covered in all departments with multiple all-rounders and big hitters capable of changing the game, which adds to their X-factor. A surprise inclusion in their squad for the tournament was Shamar Joseph, who had not featured in a T20I until playing against South Africa recently, but is clearly on his way to becoming a fine talent, as he showed during the Test series in Australia earlier in the year.
West Indies also have a fairly easy start to the tournament in this edition as they have to play against lower ranked teams Uganda and PNG in their group. If they start the tournament well, the co-hosts will be strong contenders to top the group.

New Zealand Team
New Zealand have made very few changes to their team selection from the 2022 edition to this edition. This shows the consistency in selection on one hand, and how well-prepared the Blackcaps squad is on the other.
The team has played 36 T20Is since the end of the last T20 World Cup, the most among Full Member teams.
The depth of talent they possess was evident in the recent T20I series in Pakistan, where a second-string team managed to level the series.
Kane Williamson, who will be playing his sixth T20 World Cup, will lead a strong squad that is brimming with experience as well as youngsters like Rachin Ravindra, who made a splash with the bat in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, and the exciting Finn Allen.
Veterans Trent Boult and Tim Southee will spearhead the pace bowling attack, which also includes Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henry. The spin department too has ample options in the form of Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Michael Bracewell and Ravindra.
New Zealand will begin their campaign against Afghanistan in Guyana and then take on co-hosts West Indies in Trinidad.

Afghanistan Team
Afghanistan can win major matches despite being ranked tenth in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings. Since the conclusion of the most recent T20 World Cup, they have won series against the UAE (twice), Pakistan, and Ireland. They have also advanced to the Asian Games men’s cricket final, where they were defeated by India.
The team has been strengthened by the return of Rashid Khan after a long spell out due to a leg-spinner injury. He leads a versatile spin department that also includes the likes of Mujeeb ur Rahman, Noor Ahmad, Nangyal Kharoti and the experienced Mohammad Nabi. Afghanistan will begin their campaign against Uganda on June 3 in Guyana.

Uganda Team
Uganda comfortably defeated Rwanda in their last match of the Africa region qualifiers to secure a place in the T20 World Cup. With five wins in six matches, Uganda was the best team in the Africa qualifiers along with Namibia and secured their place in the mega event.
Uganda has had a stellar record ahead of the tournament, winning 41 of their last 49 T20 matches, with a win percentage of 83.67 percent.
Led by Brian Masaba, the Ugandan team will participate in the tournament with a lot of experienced players. Apart from 43-year-old Frank Nsubuga, the team also includes Alpesh Ramazani, who was one of the nominees for the 2023 ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year.
Uganda will play their first three matches in Guyana and have a chance to spring a surprise from Group C.

Papua New Guinea Team
PNG will go into the tournament with an impressive record of winning 14 of their last 18 matches, just like Uganda at their best. Led by the enterprising Assad Vala, PNG are set to make their second appearance at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Papua New Guinea maintained an undefeated record in the qualifiers, winning six matches in a row. With plenty of all-rounders in the squad, PNG have a versatile unit that can challenge the bigger teams in the group.
Papua New Guinea will begin their campaign with a challenging opening match against host nation West Indies on June 2. They will then face Uganda on June 5, followed by matches against Afghanistan and New Zealand.
