The Sunrisers of Hyderabad is a good team, to say the least. They are a regular feature in the last 4 of the tournaments almost every year. But things do not seem, all fun and games this time around. The team is railing at the bottom of the table with just one win from the 7 games. The team was in a rift with their captain David Warner, but David carried on the show with a smile. Here’s a quick round-up of how and where the team stands before the second leg: –
Strengths of Sunrisers Hyderabad: –
The strengths of Hyderabad are their foreign players themselves. David Warner though looked off-color but has the ability to snatch the game away single-handedly. Johnny Bairstow also brings in the same capabilities. Kane Williamson on the other hand is the powerhouse that makes sure things are in place. Apart from this, Indian seniors such as Manish Pandey too add batting stability.
The list of strong Indian pacers that Sunrisers have, gives them a lot of depth. Bhuvi, Natarajan, Sandeep Sharma, and Siddhart Kaul. This is one dynamic bowling unit. On the other hand, Mujeeb and Rashid are a deadly spinning combo.
Weakness of Sunrisers Hyderabad: –
The Hyderabadi Miya’s have to put several things in place. They are a good team on paper but their performances have not been up to the reputation. David Warner and Johnny Bairstow’s availability for the entire season is also questionable as they will be key players for their national sides. Another evident weakness is the absence of Indian batsmen. The Risers cannot stay dependent on Manish Pandey always. The inexperience of Abdul Samad, Abhishek Sharma, and Priyam Garg is evident.
Opportunities for Sunrisers Hyderabad: –
There are a whole lot of opportunities for this team. This is a good time for Vijay Shankar and Kedar Jadhav to shine with flying colors. In case of the absence of Bairstow and Warner, these two along with Wriddhi can bat well. The eyes will also be on Shabaz Nadeem. With a very long home season ahead and the Test Team looking for left-arm spinners, Nadeem is a front runner. At this moment Kane Williamson can also end the debate on whether he is a true T20 batsman. Although his strike rate is something around 120 his average is 35+.
Threats for Sunrisers Hyderabad: –
The main threat for SRH is the vulnerability of its star players. A sense of consistency is missing and hence they are losing out on must-win games. Stalwarts like David Warner need to prove their mettle. If David gets going, he takes the game away within a fraction of a few overs. Another threat is injuries. Natarajan, their ace bowler is out for a very long time due to injury. Lack of game time can hamper his toe-crushing yorkers.
