On Friday, the SLC announced the schedule for the coming SL vs NZ series. Both matches will be played at Galle International Cricket Stadium. The tour will start on September 18, but there will be six days allotted for this game.

This decision is made because of the political election in Sri Lanka. A rest day is allotted as September 21 will see a Presidential Election of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Notably, this series will be part of the ongoing World Test Championship.

This is the first instance in the last 20 years when a Test match had a reverse day in Sri Lanka. The last time it happened was in 2001, when there was a rest day set in a test because of the Poya Day (full moon).

One such cash was recorded in a test between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in Dhaka in 2008, when the test had a reserve day due to parliamentary elections. Earlier, Test used to have six days, including a reserve day because on Sunday there was no play.
