It has been a dream series for Shubman Gill as captain, and he is one of those captains who won an away debut series in his first attempt. Apart from this, he also contributed with the bat. Shubman Gill scored the most runs in the five-match series.

He scored 170 runs in five innings at an average of 42.50 with two half-centuries and was one of the key reasons that India won the series with ease. However, with this, Shubman Gill also achieved a great record. He went past the former Indian captain, Rohit Sharma.

Gill’s 170 runs in the series are now the third-most runs by an Indian captain in a T20I series. Rohit was on third earlier when he scored 162 runs in the three-match series against Sri Lanka in 2017, which included a hundred as well. Virat Kohli holds the top two positions on this list.

In 2021, Virat scored 231 runs in a T20 series, which is the most by an Indian captain in a series. Then, Virat’s 183 runs as captain during the T20 series against West Indies in 2019 are second most.

Speaking of the final game, India posted a total of 167/6 in the first inning. Sanju Samson scored 58 off 45 balls and was the top scorer. Zimbabwe tried hard but only reached 125 runs, and India won by 42 runs. For India, Mukesh Kumar picked up 4/22 and helped India to win the game.
