SA20 2023: Know the Owners and Sponsors of All the Teams

The SA20 is holding its first edition, and investors from India have shown keen interest in bidding for franchises in the league. The biggest of the domestic T20 leagues, the Indian Premier League, which has a history of 15 years, is conducted smoothly due to the immense funds provided by Indian investors and sponsors from around the world.

The SA20, though, is not as big a platform as the IPL, nor does it have a similar craze or viewership among cricket fans globally. But yet, after all this, SA20 has also attracted players from around the world and would require huge funds for the undisputed continuation of the league. These monetary requirements are fulfilled by the team owners and sponsors, who provide all kinds of benefits to their team members.

1. Joburg Super Kings

JSK does not only resemble the IPL franchise CSK in terms of name but is also owned by the same Indian investors who own CSK. The owners of JSK are India Cements – A Chennai-based company which is  India’s leading manufacturer and supplier of cement.

2. Sunrisers Eastern Cape

SREC is also similar to the IPL franchise SRH in both name and owner SUN Group – A Chennai-based Indian media conglomerate.

Sponsors: Wolf 777 – An online betting platform offering Fantasy and casino games, is the official partner of SREC in SA20 2023. 

3. Pretoria Capitals

The Capitals from the executive capital city of South Africa resemble the team from the capital of India. They are owned by the JSW Group – Mumbai- based MNC conglomerate that mainly deals in raw materials for construction and infrastructure requirements.

4. Durban Super Giants

The RPSG group owns the Durban Supergiants as well as the newly introduced Indian side Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and previously owned the Pune Warriors India and the Rising Pune Super Giants. RPSG is a Kolkata-based Indian company with its primary business being Power generation plants.

5. Paarl Royals 

Paarl Royals is owned by Manoj Badale – co-founder of the UK’s leading digital venture builder company, Blenheim Chalcot, who also happens to be the owner of Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.  

Sponsors: The team is officially sponsored by Afrihost – South African Telecom and Networking company in SA20 2023.

6. MI Cape Town 

The MI Cape Town is owned by the same owners as their IPL franchise, MI, i.e., Reliance Industries – an Indian MNC conglomerate based in Mumbai with diverse businesses.

Sponsors: MICT is officially sponsored by Pari Match – UK based International sports betting company.
