Robin Uthappa, the star batter from Karnataka state and an integral part of the 2007 Indian team that won the ICC T20 World Cup has announced retirement from all formats of cricket. He made this announcement via a Twitter post. Robin who was known for his attacking batting and who was a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders in their two successful seasons had a lot to say about the game he loves hence he also shared a heartfelt note. The batter began his note by mentioning the fact that he was grateful for representing his country and state. And also addressed that his career has been filled with ups and downs. He also claimed that there were moments when he was emotional.
He further went on to thank the people he associated with during his cricketing career. Robin thanked the BCCI management and the fraternity that manages the sport. He further went on to thank all the state team managements who he represented. Robin played for Saurashtra, Kerala, and Karnataka in his domestic career. He also thanked all the IPL teams that he represented. Just as a refresher, Uthappa played for the Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Pune Warriors India, Kolkata Knight Riders, and the Rajasthan Royals.

Uthappa also expressed gratitude towards his beloved family. He thanked his sister and his parents for allowing him to pursue his passion. In the latter part of the note, Uthappa thanked his teammates, his coaches, the ground staff, and every person who added immense value to his life.

Robin Uthappa made one of the best national comebacks in 2014. It was sheerly based on performance. He worked very hard under the guidance of Pravin Amre. In that IPL season, Uthappa won the orange cap and eventually led the Kolkata Knight Riders to win the trophy. He was also an integral part of the team. Gautam Gambhir made effective use of Uthappa as he made him bat up the order.
