Rahul Dravid, the stalwart former Indian batsman is expected to be approached for being the interim coach of the Indian National Cricket Team in the series against New Zealand. This development comes as a consequence of the fact that Ravi Shastri’s contract ends after the 2021 T20 World Cup. Also, Ravi Shastri no longer falls into age criteria for being reappointed as the coach of the Indian Cricket Team. Rahul Dravid to be Approached For Being Interim Coach: –
Rahul Dravid has been the servant of Indian Cricket from the day he stepped on the field. Reports from the Times say that Rahul Dravid is expected to be approached for being an interim head coach. The BCCI had announced the selection for New Head Coach after Ravi Shastri’s tenure ends in 2021 November. But due to the IPL and T20 World Cup, the selection process has taken a hit. For the selection of Head Coach, the BCCI will require some more time.
The position of an interim coach was also seen as a good opportunity by many Australian Coaches. But the BCCI is keen on appointing an Indian Coach. Dravid was also seen as a full-time head coach but he refused the offer. Dravid previously informed that he is not keen on taking this opportunity because of the traveling restriction it imposes. Rahul Dravid also has the responsibility of being the head of the national cricket academy in Bengaluru.

Dravid previously was the coach of the Indian Cricket Team. It had second-string players for the Sri Lanka series in 2021. The team won the One Day International Series by 2-1 and lost the T20I series by 2-1 in Dravid’s first outing as a coach. Dravid had taken this opportunity since Ravi Shastri was with the Test Team. The team which had traveled to England for the WTC and England Test Series. Rahul Dravid also has a great coaching record with the age group cricket teams. This includes two Under-19 World Cup Finals in the year 2016, 2020 and one Under-19 World Cup victory in 2018 with Prithvi Shaw and Shubhman Gill’s team.
