NZ vs AUS 2024: Cricket Australia Announces Strong 14-Member Squad for the Test Series against New Zealand: Cricket Australia (CA) announced the strong 14-member squad for the two-match test series against New Zealand. Pat Cummins will be leading the Australian test side whereas other key players including Travis Head, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne return to the side for the crucial test series.
Australian Pacer Michael Neser made his comeback to the test team after a long time. Neser has played only two test matches for far and took seven wickets. The two-match test series between Australia and New Zealand will be very important for the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25.
Currently, Australia is present at second position in the latest ICC World Test Championship Points Table 2023-25 with a PCT of 55.00%. Australia has played ten games so far in the ICC WTC 2023-25 cycle and in which, they won six games and have 66 points. Australia needs to win this series to retain the first position in the ICC WTC Points Table 2024.
New Zealand has occupied the first spot in the ICC WTC 2023-25 Points Table with a PCT of 66.66%. They have played three matches so far out of which, they won two games and have 24 points. Currently, New Zealand is in the top position and to retain this position they have to win this series against Australia.
The Two-match test series between Australia and New Zealand is going to start from February 29, 2024, to March 12, 2024. The First test match will be played on February 29 at Basin Reserve Cricket Ground in Wellington whereas the second test match will be played on March 08, 2024, at Hagley Oval Cricket Stadium in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Australian Team lost the last test match against West Indies at Brisbane Cricket Ground (The Gabba) therefore, the series was drawn between both the teams. However, New Zealand is currently playing the two-match test series against South Africa and they won the first test match by 281 runs at Bay Oval Cricket Ground.
