Indian U-19 winning captain Prithvi Shaw, who was once compared with great batters like Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, and Virender Sehwag, has been in the limelight due to various controversial reasons in recent times.

Prithvi Shaw was criticized by the team officials and seniors regarding his fitness and disciplinary issues during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. As per reports, he has been skipping training sessions and often returning to the team hotel at unusual hours, causing growing frustration among senior team members, who have started expressing their dissatisfaction.

Recently, he has been dropped from the Vijay Hazare Trophy squad for Mumbai, claiming that the temperamental batter has violated disciplinary rules. The player showcased his frustration and exploded on social media following his exclusion.

An MCA official revealed, “The ball would pass near him, and he would barely make an effort to reach it. Even while batting, he struggled to reach the ball. His fitness, discipline, and attitude are lacking, and we cannot have different rules for different players.”

“Prithvi Shaw missed training sessions regularly during SMAT as he would enter the hotel at 6 am after being out at night. Everyone has given him the input; we can’t babysit him. No one is Shaw’s enemy; he is his own enemy.” he added

This proves that a lack of hunger and discipline can significantly hinder a player’s potential, no matter how talented they are.

Indian opener Prithvi Shaw, who was a part of Mumbai’s title-winning squad in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, has been released by the MCA for the upcoming domestic tournaments. His exclusion is caused by various issues like fitness, attitude, and discipline.

Mumbai captain Shreyas Iyer stated, “Prithvi Shaw needs to get his work ethic right. If he does, the sky’s the limit for him. We can’t babysit anyone. At the end of the day, it’s his responsibility to figure things out for himself.”
