KKR vs GT Highlights: The TATA IPL 2026 delivered another unforgettable run-fest at Eden Gardens as Kolkata Knight Riders crushed Gujarat Titans by 29 runs in one of the highest-scoring games of the season.
On a batting paradise in Kolkata, KKR produced a breathtaking display of power-hitting to pile up a gigantic 247/2 before restricting Gujarat Titans to 218/4 despite impressive half-centuries from Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler and Sai Sudharsan.
The evening belonged to Finn Allen’s fearless stroke play and Sunil Narine’s experience as Kolkata kept their playoff hopes alive with a statement victory in Match 60 of IPL 2026.
Finn Allen Turns Eden Gardens Into His Personal Playground
KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane lost his wicket early after scoring 14 runs, but what followed completely changed the game.
New Zealand batter Finn Allen unleashed absolute destruction on the Gujarat bowling attack. From the moment he walked to the crease, Allen looked determined to dominate every bowler and every over.
The right-hander smashed 93 runs off just 35 deliveries at an astonishing strike rate of 265.71. His innings featured ten gigantic sixes and four boundaries, leaving the Eden Gardens crowd roaring throughout the innings.
Allen attacked both pace and spin with equal aggression. Mohammed Siraj, Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore all struggled to contain him as KKR raced ahead at nearly 14 runs per over during the first half of the innings.
The power play laid the foundation, but the real damage came in the middle overs where Kolkata completely dismantled Gujarat’s bowling plans.
Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green Continue the Carnage
Even after Allen fell short of a deserved century, KKR refused to slow down.
Young batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi showcased maturity far beyond his years with a sensational unbeaten 82 from 44 balls. He balanced timing with controlled aggression and rotated strike beautifully while continuing the boundary flow.
At the other end, Cameron Green added the finishing touch with a powerful unbeaten 52 from just 28 deliveries.
Together, Raghuvanshi and Green ensured Kolkata maintained relentless pressure in the death overs, scoring 55 runs in the final four overs.
By the end of the innings, KKR had posted a massive 247/2 — one of their highest totals in IPL history.
Gujarat Titans Begin Aggressively in Chase
Chasing 248 required a near-perfect batting performance, and Gujarat Titans responded positively through captain Shubman Gill.
Gill looked in sublime touch from the start, playing elegant drives and fearless pull shots against both pace and spin. He scored 85 off 49 balls and kept Gujarat in contention during the middle phase of the chase.
England star Jos Buttler also played aggressively, scoring 57 off 35 deliveries with five boundaries and two sixes.
Sai Sudharsan then continued the fight with an unbeaten 53 from only 28 balls, but the required run rate kept climbing due to Kolkata’s enormous total.
Despite scoring 218 runs, Gujarat Titans never truly looked ahead in the chase because they constantly remained under scoreboard pressure.
Sunil Narine Delivers Again in Landmark Match
Veteran all-rounder Sunil Narine once again proved why he remains one of the greatest T20 match-winners.
Playing his 200th match for Kolkata Knight Riders, Narine stepped up at crucial moments and broke Gujarat’s momentum with two key wickets.
He dismissed Shubman Gill just when the Gujarat captain looked capable of producing something special. Narine then removed Nishant Sindhu shortly after, effectively slowing the chase during the most important stage of the innings.
Although KKR’s bowlers conceded plenty of runs, Narine’s control and experience made a massive difference under pressure.
After receiving the Player of the Match award, Narine credited the team’s preparation and hard work for the result.
He said every match presents different challenges and emphasized the importance of staying calm in crucial moments. Narine also expressed gratitude for reaching the milestone of 200 matches for KKR, calling it a special achievement in his career.
Ajinkya Rahane Praises Team’s Fearless Approach
Speaking after the victory, Ajinkya Rahane praised his players for showing fearless intent despite difficult humid conditions in Kolkata.
Rahane especially appreciated Finn Allen, Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green for attacking a quality bowling unit without hesitation.
The KKR captain also highlighted the importance of experienced players like Sunil Narine in maintaining balance within the team. He additionally praised Varun Chakravarthy for pushing through injury concerns and contributing to the team effort.
The win keeps Kolkata mathematically alive in the playoff race and significantly boosts their confidence heading into the final stage of IPL 2026.
Shubman Gill Admits Fielding Cost Gujarat Titans
Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill admitted after the game that poor fielding heavily damaged his team’s chances.
Gill revealed Gujarat dropped multiple catches during Kolkata’s innings, allowing batters to capitalize fully on scoring opportunities.
According to the GT skipper, the batting surface was excellent, but Gujarat still believed they could have restricted Kolkata to around 210 if they had fielded better.
Gill, however, remained calm despite the defeat and said the team would focus on recovery before returning to Ahmedabad for the next match.
KKR Completely Dominated the Middle Overs
One of the biggest differences between the two teams was the middle-over acceleration.
KKR scored 82 runs between overs 7 and 11 at a stunning run rate above 16, while Gujarat managed only 55 during the same phase.
That explosive middle-over burst from Kolkata completely changed the momentum of the contest and gave Gujarat Titans too much to chase later in the innings.
The game also highlighted Kolkata’s improved batting depth, with multiple players contributing aggressively rather than depending on one individual performance.
IPL 2026 Points Table Update
The victory moves Kolkata Knight Riders to 11 points from 12 matches, keeping their playoff hopes alive. Gujarat Titans remain second on the table with 16 points despite the loss.
With several teams still fighting for qualification, the IPL 2026 playoff race is becoming increasingly intense.
KKR will now look to build momentum from this dominant performance, while Gujarat Titans will hope to quickly correct their fielding mistakes before the knockout phase begins.
At Eden Gardens, however, the night belonged entirely to Finn Allen’s explosive batting and Sunil Narine’s timeless brilliance.
