The IPL 2026 mini-auction is just a few days away, and all eyes are on Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, who is expected to be the most expensive buy in the upcoming auction. The IPL 2026 Mini-Auction is scheduled for December 16 in Abu Dhabi, and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have the biggest purse of Rs. 64.3 crore for the upcoming auction.
Cameron Green has previously played for the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), known for his aggressive batting and big six-hitting ability. Green has played 29 matches in the IPL and scored 707 runs with an average of 41.6, and he has an impressive strike rate of 153.7.
Maximum Rs. 18 Crore for Any Player in the IPL 2026 Mini-Auction:
Cameron Green has set his base price of Rs. 2 crore, and this is the highest among the 45 players who have listed themselves in the top reserve price category for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction. However, With the IPL’s new “Maximum fee rule”, Green cannot exceed Rs. 18 crore even if bidding surpassed that amount.
This rule was introduced last year that aims to maintain balance during the mini-auctions so that overseas players don’t exploit high demand. Some of the overseas players used to register themselves in the mini-auctions only so that they will be in high demand and would get high value in the auction.
KKR vs CSK: Who Will Snatch Cameron Green?
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will enter the IPL 2026 mini Auction with a purse of Rs. 64.3 crore and Rs. 43.4 crore, respectively. KKR are expected to go for Cameron Green after the recent retirement of IPL legend Andre Russell.
But, CSK also traded Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran with the Rajasthan Royals for Sanju Samson. Both the players were pillars of Chennai’s middle-order in the last season, so they also need a quality batter in the middle-order for the upcoming IPL 2026 edition.
Therefore, it’s going to be a good auction battle between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings for Cameron Green, but since KKR has the highest purse so the chances are high that Kolkata will take Green.
The IPL 2026 mini-auction will feature 77 slots, which include 31 reserved for overseas players. There will be 1,355 players, and one franchise will submit its confirmed list by December 05, 2025. Each franchise can have a squad of a maximum of 25 players.
