India ended their long wait for an ICC trophy and ended up winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Rohit Sharma became the third Indian captain to win a World Cup title. India beat South Africa and lifted the title. However, that win also saw Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja announce their T20I retirements after the tournament. Now these three superstars won’t be available for the shorter format in India.

However, it is also the start of the new generation, with youngsters taking over. But it will be very hard to replace Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma at the top of the order, and it will be a big shoe to fill. India have some good players coming through the ranks, and Dinesh Karthik has named some players who can replace Virat and Rohit in the T20 World Cup 2026.

India are the World T20 champions, and they will defend their title in the T20 World Cup 2026, which will be played at home. The Men in Blue are set to play 40 T20Is ahead of the 2026 edition, so there are enough matches to test the players.

Former Indian wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik feels that India have the stock. In a discussion with Cricbuzz, Karthik spoke about the coming stars of Indian cricket. He admitted that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli can’t be replaced, but India can find someone who can play their roles.

He named four stars who could do this job. Karthik said, “I do think there are four choices at the moment. There’s Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, and Shubman Gill. I think Yashasvi Jaiswal will definitely be starting in the XI in T20I cricket.”

India recently gave the chances to all these four youngster in the series against Zimbabwe, and they did well. Still, there is a long way to go, and India need a solid top order heading into the next T20 World Cup. With a change in captaincy and coaching, they will focus on building a strong top order as well.
