Ishan Kishan has reannounced himself with a blistering ton. Team India have had issues as there are so many superstars fighting to get a place in the team. That’s where some players get unlucky for not getting chances.
However, one name that was sacked by the BCCI from the central contract for not obeying the rule of playing domestic cricket has now made a sparkling return. Ishan Kishan, who is trying to make his way into the team once again, has started the Buchi Babu Tournament in Tamil Nadu with an 86-ball century.
The 26-year-old has certainly made a statement that he is back with a bang. It will make the competition very tight for a place for a wicket-keeper batter in the Indian team.
Ishan Kishan struck an 86-ball hundred on his domestic cricket return
Ishan Kishan has not played a domestic first-class game since 2022 and wasn’t part of the actual squad for the Buchi Babu Tournament 2024. However, he communicated with the Jharkhand State Cricket Association and was later drafted into the game. In the game against Madhya Pradesh, he struck an 86-ball century in the first inning.
He reached his hundred with two consecutive sixes. Notably, he has also asked JSCA to consider him for the Ranji Trophy, as he has not played Ranji Trophy since 2022, which was that the BCCI removed him from the central contract.
A JSCA executive said, With Ishan, it was never about ability. It was only about whether he was ready to return. The decision was with him. When he was not included in the initial list, it was only because we hadn’t heard from him. The moment he expressed his keenness to return, he was drafted in.”
Ishan Kishan made his Test debut against West Indies in January 2023 and played two Tests in the absence of Rishabh Pant. He has also played 17 ODIs and 11 T20Is and was part of the 2023 ODI World Cup. The Buchi Babu Tournament is a four-day red-ball tournament and it is a great platform to get ready for the Ranji Trophy.
