Ishan Kishan will have to wait longer to make a red-ball comeback as he has been ruled out of the first round of the Duleep trophy due to his concerns with a hamstring niggle.
Ishan Kishan was named under Team India D, to be captained by Shreyas Iyer, who will begin their contest with Team C to be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad. Gaikwad’s team’s vital player and India’s T20I skipper, Suryakumar Yadav, who was also about to make a red-ball return with the tournament, was earlier reported to have been ruled out.
Also, bowlers like Mohammad Siraj and Umran Malik were ruled out and replaced by the likes of Navdeep Saini and Gaurav Yadav. Ravindra Jadeja was also withdrawn from the competition without any reason.
Ishan Kishan was last seen in the Jharkhand team, where he scored a stunning test century on his first-class return in the Buchi Babu tournament. The team only features the likes of KS Bharat as their wicketkeeper, while they will also have the probable replacement as Sanju Samson might take his place in Team D.
However, Samson’s involvement with the side depends upon Kishan’s seriousness of the injury. While also one of the fast bowlers, Prasidh Krishna, whose participation is also under the radar depending upon his recovery from a quadriceps injury. Krishna also missed the IPL this year with his injury concerns, while he is still in the National Cricket Academy undergoing rehab.
The Indian camp will reassemble in Chennai on the 12th of September before they begin their home red-ball series against Bangladesh on the 19th of the same month in Chennai. The squad for the upcoming series will have players selected from the Duleep Trophy first round, with the likes of great players Gill, Jaiswal, Pant, and KL Rahul.
