Faf du Plessis Profile: Faf du Plessis is a 38-year-old South African professional cricketer and former captain of the South Africa cricket team. Faf is regarded as one of the greatest fielders of all time and one of the best all-format batsmen of his time. He was named as the South African Cricketer of the Year in 2019. Faf also plays for the Indian Premier League.
He is a right handed batsman and part time leg spin bowler. He is one of the most successful international captains of his era, with a win percentage of 73.68 in ODIs. He is the first international captain to beat Australia in all three formats of the game.
IPL Journey
Faf du Plessis made his IPL debut in 2018 with Chennai Super Kings. Punjab Kings bought Faf in the player’s auction for 1.6 crores, CSK using the RTM card to include him in his squad. The right-handed batsman played a crucial inning in the final of the 2021 edition of the league, scoring 86 off 59 balls to win the player of the match title.
Faf du Plessis did well in the 2021 IPL playoffs which were Faf du Plessis’ last win in the Chennai Super Kings team. In the IPL 2022 auction, RCB made Faf a member of his team by betting 7 crores and also gave the command of the team in his hands.
Virat Kohli:- Former RCB captain Virat Kohli announced that he will hand over the captaincy to Faf du Plessis, who will be the new captain of RCB. It will be a completely new setup for Faf du Plessis, who changed the team color and represented RCB in the 2022 edition of the league and took them to the playoffs.
