IPL 2025: Dinesh Karthik Appointed as Batting Coach and Mentor for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL : Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Monday appointed Dinesh Karthik as their new batting coach and mentor.
With his stellar presence in the RCB batting lineup, Karthik brings with him a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the team’s character, which is set to further improve the coaching staff.
His emphasis on developing talent is expected to open the door for RCB to have a prosperous cricket season. Karthik made his RCB debuts in 2015 and 2016.
In the 2024 season, he amassed 326 runs with a strike average of 187.36 throughout 15 games, but his impact went well beyond that amount.
Mo Bobat, Director of Cricket for Royal Challengers Bangalore, commented on Karthik’s appointment. , “DK is a great addition to our coaching group.
It was thrilling to watch him on the field and I am sure he will be equally impressive as a coach. His longevity and track record as a player speak volumes about his skill and dedication.

The 39-year-old Karthik, who made his ODI debut for India in 2004 at the age of 19, has a vast batting experience of over two decades during which he has played 26 Tests, 94 ODIs, and 60 T20 Internationals for India.
He has also featured in 257 IPL games, scoring a total of 4842 runs including 22 half-centuries. On his appointment as batting coach and batting mentor, Dinesh Karthik said, “Coaching at a professional level is incredibly exciting for me and it’s something I’m really passionate about as a new chapter in my life.
Hopefully my breadth of experiences as a player will be able to contribute to the group’s development and bring added value. I believe cricketing success depends not only on technical proficiency but also on match intelligence and composure.
I’m looking forward to coaching and mentoring our batting group, helping them not only refine their method but also develop the match awareness needed to perform better under pressure.
It’s also great that I can continue my association with RCB as the franchise goes from strength to strength,” he added. Karthik’s batting style and his presence on the field made him an instant favourite of RCB’s 12-man army.
His ability to shape the team’s fortunes with his calm approach to batting makes him a natural fit in RCB’s quest to groom and mentor young Indian batsmen alongside coach Andy Flower.”
