The IPL 2025 Mega Auction is around the corner and teams including MI and CSK are gearing up for it. All the 10 franchises have released their official retention list for the auction. Former India captain MS Dhoni was retained by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The auction will be held on November 24 and 25 in Riyadh.

The Chennai franchise retained Dhoni along with Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, and Sri Lankan seamer Matheesha Pathirana. However, they have not retained the all-rounder, Deepak Chahar, who was bought by the franchise for 80 Lakhs INR in the IPL 2018 auction.

He was also released ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction but was bought back for a huge amount (Rs 14 crore). Chahar talked about how he was released by CSK ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction but was brought back in the auction given that the franchises were desperate for him.

Deepak Chahar feels that his skills will be more wanted in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction

He feels that his skills will be more valued now given that batters are trying to take the attack to the bowlers in the powerplay and Chahar has proved his skills when the field restrictions are on in the first six overs.

“I was not retained by them in the last mega auction as well. But they went all out for me and bought me back. I don’t know what will happen this year, but I know my skill will be valued more now given the fact that around 90-100 runs are being scored in the Powerplay and that’s why the teams are scoring more than 200 more frequently. I have proved how valuable I can be in limiting runs in that phase of the game,”

Deepak Chahar said to the Times Of India

He wants to wear the CSK jersey again and feels that the franchise will again bid for him. However, if he isn’t able to play for CSK then he wants to play for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025.

“I think they (CSK) will bid for me again. I would like to don the yellow jersey again and if not that, then I would want Rajasthan Royals to bid for me,” Chahar added.
