Lasith Malinga used to be a fast bowler, and he used to play for Mumbai Indians before. But now, he might come back to the team, not as a player but as a coach. He could teach the fast bowlers in the team how to bowl better. If he comes back, he might replace Shane Bond, who used to be the fast bowling coach for a long time.
Mumbai Indians have not said anything official about it yet. They haven’t decided if Shane Bond will stay as the coach or not. Shane Bond has been with Mumbai Indians for many years. He started working with the team in 2015.
Lasith Malinga did well when he was playing for Mumbai Indians. He won five trophies with them, including four IPL titles. He played 139 matches and took 195 wickets. This is a great record. He also became a mentor for Mumbai Indians in 2018, which means he helped the players become better.
Now, if he becomes a coach for Mumbai Indians again, it could be really helpful. Players like Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer could learn from him. Also, young bowlers like Akash Madhwal and Arjun Tendulkar could benefit a lot from his experience. Lasith Malinga has done this job before, so he knows how to help bowlers become better.
