RCB SWOT Analysis: Royal Challengers Bangalore are a highly regarded IPL team; they are known for their massive fan base, which no other franchise can match. The fandom is primarily due to veteran Indian player Virat Kohli, who is widely regarded as the best batsman in modern cricket. RCB has always produced a great set of players, with the likes of the Boss- Chris Gayle; Mr.360 – ABD and Virat himself. Despite such essential players, RCB could never win the title.
Strengths
This year, the Challengers would have high hopes to make it to the playoffs and probably go on to win the title, and the major contributor would be the in-form batter Virat Kohli, who has been in prolific form since the ICC T20 World Cup. Kohli, through his heroic antics, has won many matches for RCB and would be looking to do the same this year too.
The other inclusions who can serve as formidable performers include big-bid Hasaranga and this year’s pick, Reece Topley, both of whom can turn out to be the best bowling pair for RCB this year. Another huge advantage for RCB this year is Siraj’s masterclass form in India. Siraj has proven his amazing talent with the new ball in hand and can pick wickets till the shine is gone.
Weaknesses
RCB’s most recent hero, Harshal Patel, who was terrific with the ball in 2021 and made his way to the Indian side, has failed miserably in 2022. Not only did he go for runs, but he also could not give breakthroughs to his side. His drastic fall is a huge concern for the challengers.
Another source of concern for the RCB is Faf du Plessis’s patch. Faf is short of runs since the last edition of the IPL, but Faf has roared for CSK for all these years but failed to do any good since his move to the Challengers team.
Opportunities
With a strong set-up, RCB would look to fancy their chances for their first IPL trophy, as they have a good set of players.
The biggest opportunity in this year’s IPL would be for Rajat Patidar to prove himself as an eminent T20 batter and to enlist himself in the national T20 side before the preparatory matches for the next T20 World Cup to be played in 2024.
Another dashing cricketer who is included in the RCB squad is Will Jacks. The Englishman would bring immense T20 entertainment for RCB cricketers as he is a terrific hitter of the cricket ball.
Threats
The biggest threat to RCB this year would be Maxwell’s injury, which adds a question mark to his availability in the upcoming IPL. Maxwell is the most promising all-rounder in world cricket in the shorter format, and his absence would have adverse effects on the team.
Another weak spot is DK’s absence from regular cricket, which makes him inconvenient in such playing conditions as the IPL amongst international giants. The loss of the essential finisher for RCB would be a huge loss to the Challengers.
